With a strong reputation for innovation, digital transformation, and customer engagement, we are looking for a dynamic and creative Director of Marketing to take our marketing efforts to the next level.

This is a senior non-board level leadership position reporting to an Executive Director, with responsibility for developing and executing a strategic, commercially focused, and highly creative marketing approach. The role will oversee a talented marketing team and collaborate closely with internal stakeholders across sales, operations, digital, and business development.

The Role
As Director of Marketing, you will be responsible for driving brand growth, customer engagement, and revenue generation across multiple auction sectors. You will oversee an in-house marketing team, managing a mix of brand marketing, digital campaigns, content creation, PR, and performance marketing to ensure maximum impact.

We are looking for a data-driven yet highly creative marketing leader who thrives in a fast-moving, customer-focused environment, blending strategy with hands-on execution.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Brand & Creative Strategy
• Develop and execute an innovative, market-leading brand strategy that enhances customer perception and differentiates John Pye Auctions.
• Oversee the creative direction of marketing campaigns.
• Ensure brand consistency across all platforms, from digital content and advertising to offline marketing materials and events.
• Collaborate with design, content, and video teams to push the creative boundaries of auction marketing.

2. Digital Marketing & Customer Acquisition
• Lead and optimise multi-channel digital marketing strategies, including SEO, PPC, paid social, email, and website performance.
• Drive a data-led approach to customer acquisition and engagement, ensuring campaigns are measurable, scalable, and high ROI.
• Innovate with video marketing, live streaming, and social-first content to capture audience attention.
• Enhance the user experience (UX) and conversion performance of our website and digital platforms.

3. Content, Social Media & PR
• Develop a high-impact content marketing strategy, producing engaging, visually striking, and shareable content.
• Grow and manage social media presence, leveraging influencers, partnerships
• Build a strong PR and media presence, developing key relationships with industry publications and journalists.

4. Experiential & Event Marketing
• Oversee the planning and execution of high-profile events, sponsorships, and activations to elevate brand visibility.
• Explore experiential marketing opportunities, making auctions an immersive and exciting experience for customers.
• Collaborate with key partners to maximise sponsorship and industry collaborations.

5. Data, Performance & Commercial Growth
• Develop and track marketing performance KPIs, using insights to refine strategy and optimise campaigns.
• Use customer data and segmentation to enhance marketing effectiveness and improve retention.
• Work closely with sales and operations teams to align marketing efforts with business growth objectives.

6. Leadership & Team Development
• Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing marketing team, fostering a culture of creativity, innovation, and accountability.
• Work collaboratively with other business functions, ensuring marketing is aligned with wider commercial goals.
• Manage budgets efficiently, ensuring marketing investment delivers strong ROI and measurable impact.

About You
We are looking for a creative, commercial, and strategic marketing leader who combines big-picture thinking with hands-on execution. You should be data-savvy, brand-focused, and passionate about customer engagement.

Essential Skills & Experience:
> Proven experience in a senior marketing role, ideally as Head of Marketing, Senior Marketing Manager, or Marketing Director in retail, e-commerce, or auction sectors.
> Strong creative vision, with a track record of delivering bold, engaging campaigns.
> Expertise in digital marketing, including PPC, SEO, paid social, and CRM.
> Ability to balance creativity with data-driven decision-making, using insights to shape campaigns.
> Experience in video, content marketing, and social media strategy.
> Commercial mindset, with a strong understanding of customer acquisition and revenue growth.
> Leadership and team management experience, with the ability to inspire and develop a team.
